This is QuickPot

Have you ever thought that some things are meant to be happening for a reason at the right time, in the right moment, and there is absolutely no room for coincidence.

In the early 80’s, the horticultural world was in a need for a reinvention when Nurseries around the world were using open seed trays to grow their plants, making it a more complex process. It was then, that a specialist nursery tray manufacturer in Germany came to the rescue by taking the open seed trays and reinventing them into modular cell trays, turning a simple gardening tool into an absolute “must” in someone’s back garden.

What is a propagation tray?

It is a piece of polystyrene with weird hole made by a machine through a process of extreme tension applied on the material itself. On a serious note, a HerkuPlast Quick-Pot propagation tray is a modular tray manufactured by thermoforming a hard reuseable plastic film. The propagation tray was specially created to give extra depth and increased soil volume allowing for a better developed plant, great drainage and good air circulation. They are designed to de-nest easily, saving you time and effort, representing the most economical inserts for growers that don’t want to use plug extractors and transplanters.

What is the purpose of a propagation tray?

A propagation tray is a gardening tool specifically designed to hold multiple seeds, starting from the germination stage, until the seedlings are ready for transplanting. Very useful for sowing very tiny seeds like basil or easy-to-transplant flower seeds, which then can be moved on to their own pots or larger volume module trays when they grew big enough.

What can you grow using a propagation tray?

Using a propagation tray you can grow:

Vegetable seeds: Tomatoes, Brinjal, Chilli, Capsicum, Cabbage, Onion.

Kitchen herb seeds: Fennel, Basil, Rosemary, Parsley.

Flowering annuals: Marigold, Balsam, Aster, Zinnia, Vinca.

With the right propagation tray, you can grow most plants from seed or cuttings. HerkuPlast trays are designed to grow anything from the smallest of seed raised plants to mighty Oak Trees.

How to choose a propagation tray?

This is the part that we didn’t want to reach too quickly, until we believed the most objective answer we could come up with didn’t arrive. Are you ready? DON’T BUY PLASTIC! And by that, we mean, don’t buy single-use plastic.

It’s easy! Think about it.

Buying single-use plastic affects you twice:

  - You buy a single-use plastic tray and put your passion to work, by allowing sufficient time to plant and grow those seeds. You wait until that desirable plant grows strong and then you take it out. And then? YOU THROW IT AWAY! What happens next? You’re going to have to insert your bank details into that “bastard” supplier’s website.

  - And if that doesn’t make you uncomfortable, we have another “good” truth for you. What do you think it will happen to that tray? Correct! It doesn’t disappear. Not for a very long time, at least, and it will affect you directly in time.

Now what do you think happens if you buy the “same” plastic, only re-usable? We’ll give you a hint! You will be one of the lucky ones who can avoid those 2 problems. Sounds amazing, doesn’t it? You use a heavy-duty re-usable polystyrene for 10 years or more, as many times as you want to, the chances for that plastic to end up in an ocean are at least 10 times smaller, you spend money 10 times less and for the bonus, and when you finish with it after 10 years, you recycle it! That sounds more like it!

Taking all of that aside, we believe the best propagation trays are the recyclable ones, made from heavy-duty materials, that will last you longer and save you money and save our planet.

Made from heavy-duty re-usable recycled plastic, QuickPot trays are the invention that not only changed the way a propagation tray looks, changing it from an open seed tray to a programme of 8 to 480 cell modular trays, but also the guage and material used to produce them. Thermoforming heavy-duty re-usable polystyrene, Herkuplast created the easiest to use durable propagation trays you can find on the market making the overall cost per plant very low.

50 years in the business of producing a tray that not only lasts for more than 10 years, but also protects the environment. It’s the quality of the product that makes Quick-Pot stand out from other trays on the market. To understand the durability of its material, imagine that Quick-Pot changed its colour from grey to black 30 years ago due to improvements in material technology and to this day there are still some grey trays being used after 30 years.

Practically emission free, QuickPot is produced in a factory that is only equipped with long life solar panels. These panels supply the energy needed to produce the trays which reduces the CO2 emission by 70%. For 50 years QuickPot trays represented a solution for Gardeners and Nurseries in the Horticultural Industry, and now we believe it could also help someone new to the horticultural world or simply someone that has a great time in their back garden.
